“When millennials, Jo and Sam, meet at the Lightbox Gallery, they find they have more to discuss than art. But will they stay together as a couple when the world around them is falling apart? Can they find meaning in Woking when it’s in such short supply everywhere else? Jo and Sam Find Themselves in Woking is a feisty comedy that’s not afraid to tackle the topics that concern us most.”

Review by Richard Lambert, 3 Stars

What a fab fun show! Performed almost exclusively in rhyming couplets, this was a little gem! The book takes us through the journey of the relationship between Jo and Sam with the script delivering on message. The irregular rhythm makes it all a tricky ask for the actors. Kieran Dee and Phoebe Marshall stepped up and nailed it with charismatic expression and fast pace.

Unfortunately the technical aspects are not upto the standard of the script and performance. A white projection screen hanging like a very visible proverbial white elephant in the room. The sparse video content not justifying the over-bearing presence of the screen. A black cloth behind the screen doesn’t quite hide the furniture stored backstage which wasn’t used in the show. 3 x black chairs and the cast in black T-shirts and black trousers all telegraphing that this is a fringe production of very low budget. Such a shame.

But having said all that, a fabulous performance from the cast and a great script make for a brilliant evening!
