“Banned when it was originally released in Germany, this electrifying new adaptation follows the life of a passionate young woman whose sexual freedom, confidence, and candour sets her on a collision course with a conservative and morally hypocritical society.

Writer-director Scott Roberts has remixed Wedekind’s 1895 pair of plays, Earth Spirit & Pandora’s Box, into one, with multimedia effects from YouTube phenomenon Dottie James helping bring the play to a millennial audience with staggering relevancy.

In a world where a sexual predator can be elected President, there is no better time to highlight this new breed of misogyny, and the double standards women face every day.

Scott Roberts directs a talented cast, led by Lizzie Stanton, fresh off the back of her “tour-de force from start to finish” performance in the double Offie-nominated production Confessional by Tennessee Williams at Southwark Playhouse. (Bardette) “

Review by Lynne Lester-George, 5 Stars

This seminal play is set in the modern-day Trump era about the impact that a corrupted childhood has on a grown woman. The actors are phenomenal all backed up with technical standards rarely shown elsewhere on the Fringe. With a basic but very effective Set – a three-sided large box through which, on occasions, you could see some of the actors in large outlines this is a visually stunning show!

The book is slightly hazy, especially in its ending, but definitely a strikingly memorable production!

It is also advised that subject matter is of an adult nature – we recommend audiences of 16+
