This fabulous cabaret show fronted by 5 fabulous Queens is the perfect antidote to the chilly dark nights of this season. Produced by David Griego who states their unique selling point is that there are “incredible live vocals with no lip syncing.” And this is true in abundance. The vocals are staggeringly good from all 5 Queenz!
Plenty of sound reinforcement and enhancement, including a barrowload of delay, reverb and echo, the sound was amazing!
The lighting was superb! Very much pop concert with more lights behind than in front, LED tubes and blinders. Musical nuances and accents brought to life throughout.
Musically this was brilliant! Great choices and musically arranged with mash-ups of all the anthems from commercial pop to west end musicals.
The choreography was really good with slut drops and deathdrops thrown in for fun. The QUEENZ Sign was a masterpiece of design, build and lighting with inlaid LED and 1000s of silver mirrored discs. Every Queen had multiple costume changes and looked stunning! All the ingredients to make this a terrific cabaret concert!
My only criticism was the constantly repetitive “get on your feet” which happened about 10 times during the 90 minute show. The problem is when you’re cradling coats and a glass of wine, the last thing you want to do is stand and bop about. Also, where I was sat I had a lanky young man in front of me so couldn’t see a thing when everyone stood.
But that aside, it was a fantastically fun, multi-talented well-put-together show that is setting a high new standard for other shows, such as Funny Girls, to try to match or better.
