An annual highlight of any year is to go watch Peter Bull’s adult pantomime. It’s for adults only – and that’s not stated lightly – it genuinely is only suitable for adults. Teaming up with Matt Brinkler/Red Entertainment this high quality festive production brings together all the ingredients of a traditional pantomime but with a more adult plot and dialogue. We’re not talking “drag queen bawdy swearing” of which there are many to choose from, here is a more nuanced and clever offering.
The cast are great, the script is clever, the set is fabulous, the costumes are glamourous in a correct mix of posh tat and cheap bling, the choreography is dazzling, the lights are twinklingly good, the musical arrangements perfect and it’s all mashed together and seasoned by the well-established panto director Robert McWhir.
Highlight of the panto has to be the effervescent Charlie Mackay. His charisma shines as he cartwheels and jests and inflicts relentless fun on everyone. His pearly whites beaming over us all.
It’s a perfect treat for your outing with friends, your naughty office party, and anyone who needs a good laugh.
